It’s Almost Time to be a Badass!
Class Starts February 1, 2016
Hello Creatives!
Today I wanted to take a minute and let you know about an online class, Badass Art Journal 2016, I have the privilege of teaching in.
Badass Art Journal 2016
See these amazing ladies. These 14 ladies and I have the privilege of taking you all through a 16 week journey to the realm of BADASS-nes.
We want to take you through a time of finding out what scares you and learning how to reach beyond that to make 2016 more than you could every hope or imagine.
Here’s a little “in progress” sneak peek of my project:
What does it mean to be a BadAss?
I think it means different things to different people.
It can mean being strong during times of trouble or being soft during times of sorrow.
It can mean putting the pedal to the metal to reach your dreams or understanding when it is time to rest.
It can be going against the grain even when it’s not easy or it can be laying down your pride when you know you are wrong.
It can be stepping out on a limb to try something new or it can be finding peace in the familiar.
As you start this class, I want you to think about what being a badass means to you.
For me…I started with looking at people that I think are Badasses.
Who do I think is a BadAss?
When I think of being a BadAss, I think of those who are taking amazing steps towards their dreams or to change the world.
Marion Smith
I had the privilege of meeting this amazing woman about 4 years ago when we both worked for the same company.
Why do I think she’s a BadAss? Because she does amazing things daily to build her dream! With the help of her husband, they not only started their own paper/embellishment and planner company, but they have taken on the task of producing most of their products in house to keep things American made.
She is a mom of 3, an amazing artist and is just a woman who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it.
Christine Caine
So I don’t ACTUALLY know Christine Caine, but she is still on my list of BadAss women!
Not only does she have a thriving ministry through Propel Women’s Conferences, but she is the founder of the A21 Movement to abolish the modern day slavery of human trafficking.
She has gone into some scary places to bring her fellow human beings out of some of the worst conditions imaginable. Is there any denying that takes some serious BadAss-ness??!?!?!
Cheryl Boglioli
See this lady? She is awesome. She talented. She is gutsy. She is a BadAss. She also happens to be my mentor and birthday twin.
Her tag line is “Living the Art Life” and she truly is. She travels all around the country, into Canada and soon overseas living the dream of teaching others about art. She has not only this amazing desire to teach, but also this desire to constantly be learning.
She has taught me so much about perseverance and the dos and don’t of this industry.
Becky Shaffer
If you’ve followed me at all for the last 5 years, you have heard me talk about this lady and her organization, Saving Grace.
Birthed from a desire to bridge the gap of poverty, Becky founded Saving Grace 6 years ago this month. It serves as transitional housing for young women age 17-25 who have (1) aged out of foster care (2) are homeless or (3) have a home life that is conducive to a great future. They are supported through mentoring, educational incentives, and a home life so many of them have never had.
At any one time, the Saving Grace home can house 14 girls and with Becky and her amazing staff, have helped 80+ girls through the storms of life in the last 6 years.
