Hello Beautiful Day: An Inspirational Art Journal

Hello Beautiful Day: An Inspirational Art Journal Piece

Good Morning Creatives!

It’s summer!! Well..at least here in Arkansas. My kiddos are in full summer fun mode while I am their full-time entertainer (or at least they think so! LOL)

So, I have to fit in what I can when I can.

Have supplies…will travel.

Yesterday my middle daughter (the soccer star) had a 3 hour soccer evaluation. There was a chance for rain so there was the chance they would postpone the evaluation at anytime during the process, so I couldn’t go for a run or hit the gym or anything else that would talk me away from the field.

The best option? Bring a little traveling art journal studio with me and have some fun in my suburban.

Traveling Studio
When you’re an artist and a soccer mom.

Yes…it looks like a hot mess and wasn’t the easiest place to create, but it was still great to get my hands dirty after a couple weeks of non-creativity due to a busy schedule and houseguests.

Starting Place

Thankfully in my Dyan Reaveley Art Journal I had a background started from a few weeks ago.

I had been playing with some fun neon paints I found at Walmart from their “Simply: Acrylic” line. I used an old gift card to scrape the paint across my page of my journal and then let it dry.

The background

And then it sat…for like 3 weeks.

Taking the next step

This is the final art journal piece that I came up with.

“Hello Beautiful Day” Art Journal

My layers include:

(1) Layers of Washi Tape from Hobby Lobby and Illustrated Faith.

(2) Pebeo Acrylic Paints (from the Illustrated Faith Collection)

(3) Stamps from Illustrated Faith using Archival Ink in Jet Black and Heidi Swapp Archival Dye in Navy.

(4) Using my Illustrated Faith Pen and Pebeo Acrylics, I had drew my title and then painted it in.

(5) Lastly, I add scripture that were all about choosing happiness everyday.

Choosing Happiness

Why did I choose this topic? I think in everyday life it an be hard to focus on the good. To  make the choice to have a good attitude even if the people and the circumstances around us don’t reflect the good.

I wanted to create a page that I could focus on on those days when seeing the good is hard.

Here are the scriptures that I used:

“Take heart…I have overcome the world” John 16:33b

“A joyful heart is good medicine.” Proverbs 17:22

“Ask and you will receive that your joy may be full.” John 16:24

“The LORD is my strength and shield.” Psalm 28:7

“I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

“There is nothing better to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can.” Ecclesiastes 3:12

“Fear Not” Luke 2:10

“My Spirit rejoices in God my Savior” Luke 1:47

“A Peaceful heart leads to a happy body.” Proverbs 14:30

“You may have life abundantly.” John 10:10

Closing Thoughts

I hope that in your times of negativity or your times of sadness that you will look at this list of scriptures and they will give you hope.

I hope you will take the time to art journal your favorites…the ones that speak to you the most. The ones that will be the light at the end of those dark tunnel days.

I hope that you will choose happiness.

It’s not about faking life. In fact, just the opposite. It’s about being honest with yourself and the world that life is hard. That sometimes it just all out sucks.

But you can make the choice to let the bad things control you or you can control the bad things.

It’s about choices. It’s about how you choose to manipulate the things in your life, as opposed to being manipulated by them.

Choose happiness. Create your own path.

Until next time,

XOXO,

Keri
