Bible Journaling in Isaiah

Bible Journaling has been such a relaxing and fun creative outlet for me lately.

This past weekend I was on a 6 hour trip with my family and as always I brought some supplies with me including my journaling Bible.

I can’t read a lot when on the road because it makes me car sick (not fun!) so I didn’t want to read a bunch of verses. So, I decided to look up the verse of the day on my YouVersion bible app.

One of the verses for Friday was Isaiah 12:5 which says:

Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made know in all the earth..

Being in the car, I knew I couldn’t do my usual big, messy bible journaling style, so I decided to try something new.

Here’s what I came up with:

Isaiah 12:5 Bible Jouranling

I decided to practice my drawing skills by drawing a girl holding a world. I used color pencils and a black sharpie to color her in.

For the background, I added some Tim Holtz Distress ink with a make-up sponge. I used Orange Marmelade and Peacock Feathers.

Once I got it here…I felt like it still needed something else, so I grabbed my “Sheet Music” 6×6 Stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop and my Peacock Feather Ink to add more “musical inspiration.”

I love using Distress Ink in my bible journaling because I can incorporate a lot of color without covering up up my words.

As  a musician before I was an artist, I love this verse because it says to sing praise to the LORD…it doesn’t say it has to be perfect…it doesn’t say it has to with a mic in your hand…it just says PRAISE.

It reminds me of this quote from John Piper:

John Piper Worship Quote

I think it can be really easy to think of worship as an outward action when in reality…it’s a inward feeling that you just can’t hold in any more….and it comes out in the form of music.

Have a blessed day.

XOXO,

Keri
