Bible Journaling: The Beginning

Good Morning Creatives!

I am continuing my Bible Journaling series today. Today’s projects are all about keeping things simple with just paint and stickers.

Rejoice & Pray: Using Washi Tape

This washi tape from Illustrated Faith was perfect for this page. It actually says “Faith, Pray, Rejoice” but I wanted it to emphasis this verse in 1 Thessalonians about how we should rejoice and THEN pray and not only rejoice after prayers are answered.

Galatians

Derwent Inktense blocks are some of my favorite mediums. They are activated with water like watercolors, but when they dry they are permanent like an ink. They leave these great vibrant colors that easily blend.

The question this passage asks is hard for me sometimes: Who am I seeking the approval of God or man? As an artist it is hard to find that fine line between self-promoting because it’s your job and seeking to get approval from the people who see your art.

I chose to journal this page because in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, grace can become an after thought. We can become comfortable with our grace and forget how magnificent it really is. I wanted it to reflect the craziness of life with a crazy mix of colors and with the criss-cross marks all over.

Hidden Journaling

On thing that is hard for some people is the idea that their “business” will be open for all to see in their bibles. This project has hidden journaling. The flap that has the butterfly can be lifted up to allowing for some private thoughts.

Closing Thoughts

These are four of my favorite bible journaling entries. I love the bright colors and the layers. But more so, I love that I have found a way to meditate on God’s word in a way that makes sense to my creative brain.

Here is a quick list of some of the products I used:

Liquitex or The Crafter’s Workshop Clear Gesso

Derwent Inktense Blocks

Illustrated Faith Stickers, Washi Tape, Dies-Cut Shapes, Stamps and Letters

Letter Stickers

Handcarved Feather stamp

DecoArt Acrylic Paint

Sharpie

I would love to know which entry speaks to you! Let me know in the comments.

Until Next time,

Keri
